Both the San Diego Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars were competitive in Week 1, but both teams also came out with a loss. Now Jacksonville will hit the road to face the Chargers, and barring a surprising tie, one of these two teams will earn their first win on Sunday.

Philip Rivers and the Chargers built a commanding lead over the rival Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1, leading by three scores at one point. But the Chargers faded as the game went on, giving up 17 points in the fourth quarter and allowing the Chiefs to force overtime. There, Kansas City scored a touchdown for the 33-27 win.

Rivers threw for 243 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions.

One thing to keep an eye on is offensive guard Orlando Franklin for the Chargers. Franklin is one of the team’s best linemen and he was a surprise addition to the injury report on Saturday. He’s dealing with a neck injury and his status for the game was listed as questionable.

If he can’t go, it would be a big blow to Rivers and the Chargers as a whole. Rivers was sacked just one time in the team’s opener.

Jacksonville came very close to beating the Green Bay Packers, losing by just four points in Week 1. Blake Bottles threw for 320 yards and a touchdown, but he also had an interception. The Jacksonville defense was not able to create needed turnovers and stop the Packers, as Aaron Rodgers threw for two touchdowns and no picks.

Bottles did have an interception, and worse, he got almost no help from the running game. T.J. Eldon had a touchdown, but also a 1.9 yards-per-carry average. He compiled just 39 yards on 21 carries and the Jaguars ran for 48 yards as a team on the day.

Rivers has enjoyed some of his best games against the Jaguars over the years. Rivers is 5-1 against the Jaguars, with 15 touchdowns against just four interceptions in the head-to-head. He has a passer rating of 116.3 against the Jaguars.

But the Jaguars do look improved on the defensive side of the ball, and they held Rodgers to just 199 yards passing. Defensively, the Chargers will be without first-round pick Joey Bosa once again. Bosa has not played in a regular season game yet due to the injury, and missed valuable training camp and preseason time due to a contract holdout.

As noted above, Sunday’s game is set for 4:25 p.m. It will be broadcast on CBS with Tom McCarthy, Adam Archetypal and Scott Kaplan on commentary. Kaplan will actually be the sideline reporter. Below is all the information you need to watch Sunday’s action.

Brazil's World Cup qualification hasn't gotten off to the start they wanted. It's time to fix that.


Coming on the heels of winning Olympic gold, it's time for Brazil to get their World Cup qualification back on track in  group action. We say "back on track" because, despite a decent standing, the start to Brazil's qualifying run has decidedly not gone according to plan.

 
For their foes in this match, Ecuador, things have gotten off to almost a dream start. Through six matches, they're even atop the qualifying table with Uruguay with 13 points, suffering just one draw and one defeat thus far. It's been an impressive run, but now they're facing a Brazil side with momentum at their back and an eagerness to come flying up the table themselves.

Brazil are on nine points, not that far off the pace, but have won only twice in qualifying so far. They need to vastly improve on how they've played, because their sixth-place standing in the CONMEBOL table would not have them earn a place in the 2018 World Cup. That is obviously unacceptable for Brazil fans, so a win here against a hot team like Ecuador would be a big, big step in the right direction.
